NORTHEAST AND NORTH CENTRAL COLORADO AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DENVER COLORADO
230 AM MDT TUE AUG 28 2001

SHORT TERM: WATCHING AN UPPER LEVEL CIRCULATION ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL
WY WHICH HAS KICKED OF SCT TS ACROSS MUCH OF ERN WY...NW
NEBRASKA...AND EVEN A FEW SHOWERS OVER FAR ERN CO. THE BRUNT OF THIS
SYSTEM WILL STAY NORTH OF COLOROAD AND EFFECT MAINLY EAST CENTRAL WY
AND NRN NEBRASKA AGAIN TDY AND TNT. OUR CWA WILL GET THE BRUSHING
EFFECTS FROM THIS WAVE IN TERMS OF SLIGHTLY HIGHER CHANCES OF TS AND
GUSTY WNDS WITH STORMS. AGAIN LITTLE IN THE WAY OF RAIN AS LOW
LEVELS REMAINING QUITE DRY. WITH THE STRONG SOUTH WNDS GOING ON
NOW...SFC DEWPOINTS HAVE DROPPED INTO THE 20S/30S OVER PTNS OF THE
DENVER AREA WITH ONLY A LITTLE RECOVERY EXPECTED DURING THE DAY.
YIKES...THAT CERTAINLY WONT HELP RAIN CHANCES TDY. TEMPS TDY ON THE
ORDER OF 2-3 DEGREES COOLER WITH MORE CLD COVER AND SOME COOLER AIR
SLIPPING IN FROM OVERNITE STORMS IN WY. NOT ENOUGH COOLING THOUGH TO
GET RID OF THE BEASTLY 90S. THINGS SHOULD CLEAR OUT NICELY BEHIND
WAVE THIS EVENING AS NOTED BY ROABS AT BOI AND LACK OF CLOUD COVER
ACROSS PAC NW.

CANT SEE MUCH HOPE FOR RAIN ON WED AS COLORADO IN-BETWEEN SYSTEMS
AND STRONGER SYSTEM NOW ENTERING PAC NW WONT INFLUENCE OUR WX TO
LATE WED NITE AND THU. WILL TRIP BACK POPS FOR WED/WED NITE BACK TO
ISOLD AND BUMP UP TEMPS SOME. GUIDANCE NUMBERS APPEAR WAY TO COOL
AGAIN ON TUE AND WED. A CURIOUS THING WITH MAV GUIDANCE LATELY HAS
CONSISTENTLY BEEN AROUND 10-15 DEGREES TOO COLD WITH DAY 2 AND
BEYOND NUMBERS. FWC NUMBERS NOT QUITE AS BAD. EXPECT THIS WILL AGAIN
BE THE CASE WED AS 700MB TEMPS WED AFTN AROUND 15C...AND YES ANOTHER
DAY AROUND 90.

LONG TERM: FINALLY SOME HEAT RELIEF ON THURSDAY AS STRONGER TROF
PUSHES ACROSS NRN ROCKY MTNS AND NICE LOOKING SURGE COMES INTO NRN
CO THU MORNING. GRIDDED NUMBERS FROM AVN SUPPORT THU HIGHS DOWN INTO
THE 70S...BUT NOT ALL THAT CONVINCED YET THAT THE SURGE WILL BE AS
STRONG WHEN IT FINALLY REACHES US. TIME WILL TELL. WILL AT LEAST
START AROUND 80 AND LATER SHIFTS TAKE IT FROM THERE. WILL ALSO HAVE
TO SEPERATE THU FROM REST OF EXTENDED AS THINGS SHOULD WARM UP AND
DRY OUT A LITTLE BY THE WEEKEND AS UPPER HIGH REBUILDS. ENTREKIN

.DEN...NONE.
