NORTHWEST FLOW PERSISTING WITH EMBEDDED IMPULSES.. WATER VAPOR LOOP
SHOWS WEAK SHORT WAVE SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 70. NOT MUCH VISIBLE
EVIDENCE OF THIS FEATURE.. EXCEPT THAT CONVECTION HAS DEVELOPED
QUICKER OVER THE SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS IN ADVANCE OF SHORT WAVE.
CONVECTION THAT HAS FORMED HAVE LOW CLOUD TOPS (AS OF 19Z)..
INDICATIVE THAT THE AIR MASS IS DRIER (SURFACE DEW POINTS HAVE
LOWERED INTO THE UPPER 40S) AND THAT MID LEVEL TEMPERATURES ARE
RISING THAT PLACES A CAPPING INVERSION. THESE TRENDS CONTINUE INTO
FRIDAY AS RIDGE AXIS OVER THE GREAT BASIN SLOWLY SHIFTS EASTWARD
THROUGH THE WEEKEND. BY SATURDAY.. THE RIDGE AXIS HAS BEEN PROGGED
TO BE OVER WESTERN COLORADO WITH 700 MB TEMPERATURES AROUND 17C.
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY FRIDAY AFTERNOON SHOULD BE LIMITED NEAR THE
CONTINENTAL DIVIDE.. BUT CAPPED ELSEWHERE. THEN NO ACTIVITY IS
ANTICIPATED FOR SATURDAY EXCEPT FOR SOME THIN CIRRUS STREAMING
OVERHEAD FROM THE EASTERN PACIFIC. THIS PROBABLY WILL NOT BE TOO
EVIDENT GIVEN THE HAZY CONDITIONS (FROM WESTERN WILDFIRES).. WILL
PHRASE FORECASTS MOSTLY SUNNY FOR THE TIME BEING. WARMING TREND WILL
PEAK THIS WEEKEND.. OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE SEASONAL VALUES. FRISBIE

EXTENDED: MODELS STILL CONSISTENT WITH HANDLING OF THE HIGH
PRESSURE OVER WESTERN U.S....MOVING THE CENTER OVER TX BY TUE.
WITH THE HIGH STILL TO THE WEST ON SUNDAY...THAT DAY WILL REMAIN
PREDOMINANTLY DRY. THEN AS THE HIGH CENTER SHIFTS EAST OF THE AREA
THE SUBTROPICAL MOISTURE TAP...AKA SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST MONSOONAL
FLOW...WILL SET UP BY MONDAY AND CONTINUE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE
THE PERIOD. THE MODEL DIFFERENCES INCREASE WITH THE TIMING OF THE
MOVEMENT OF THE WEST COAST TROUGH TOWARDS MIDWEEK. THE LATEST MRF WAS
SLOWER THAN THE PREVIOUS RUN IN BRINGING THIS TROUGH INLAND...BUT
STILL FASTER THAN THE UK AND NOGAPS BY TUE. TEND TO BELIEVE THAT THE
TREND WILL BE FOR A SLOWER SOLUTION. IN ANY CASE WILL INCLUDE DAY 7
(THU) WITH THE CHANCE GROUP...DAYS 4-6. HEFFERNAN
