By June, the widespread drought across the southwest and west sections of South Central Texas had spread across the Texas Hill Country, essentially involving all counties west of Interstate 35. became extreme through May. With little or no rainfall, agriculture was severely limited in activities. Lake and stream levels continued to fall through May, approaching record low levels.
