With essentially no rain at all falling in the month of July or August, the severe drought spread southeastward to include all 33 counties of South Central Texas. Nearly all lake and river levels were reported to be extremely low, with many approaching record low levels.

With essentially no rain at all falling in the month of July or August, the severe drought spread southeastward to include all 33 counties of South Central Texas. Nearly all lake and river levels were reported to be extremely low, with many approaching record low levels. Numerous small creeks and streams ceased flowing. Aquifer levels were also falling to near all time low levels. Unprecedented, strong conservation measures remained in place over most of the area. Agricultural activities were essentially brought to a halt.
