Thunderstorms with frequent lightning caused minor damage to two homes in Toms River and also caused about 18,000 GPU Energy customers to lose power. Most of the outages were in Berkeley Township, Point Pleasant and Toms River. Most of the power was restored the morning of the 4th. Two houses within Toms River were struck by lightning, but only minor damage and no injuries occurred.
