Lightning Strike in New Jersey, August 14, 2000
Lightning struck two Dover Township homes nearly at the same time. On Chadwick Beach Island, the lightning blew out the water meter of one house and caused a small fire under the floorboards of the dining room.

Lightning struck two Dover Township homes nearly at the same time. On Chadwick Beach Island, the lightning blew out the water meter of one house and caused a small fire under the floorboards of the dining room. Lightning also struck a Kittiwake Avenue house and damaged the cable line and electrical outlets. No one was seriously hurt with either lightning strike. Lightning caused outages to about 1,000 GPU Energy customers in Ocean, Monmouth and Mercer Counties.
