Thunderstorms developed repeatedly along a weak, slow-moving front across east-central Kansas and west-central Missouri. One cluster of storms produced damaging winds of up to 80 mph in the Kansas City metro area in the early afternoon hours. Additional storms that developed later in the day produced another significant wind event, with winds gusting above hurricane force as the storms tracked from the Warrensburg area to near Sedalia.
