A potent upper level disturbance crossed lower Michigan, bringing with it very cold air aloft. The result was an unstable atmosphere, and a setup favorable for hail. Many storms developed in the afternoon and evening, with a number producing marginally severe hail. Hail as large as quarters fell in Yale; all the other reports were of dime sized hail.
