Widely scattered severe thunderstorms developed ahead of a warm front early in the morning, and lifted north over southeastern Massachusetts. Most of the thunderstorms were low topped, and were aided by strong low level winds.

Widely scattered severe thunderstorms developed ahead of a warm front early in the morning, and lifted north over southeastern Massachusetts. Most of the thunderstorms were low topped, and were aided by strong low level winds. A gust to 70 mph was recorded at the Blue Hill Observatory in Milton, while a gust to 60 mph was reported at Nantucket Memorial Airport., and a gust to 59 mph was reported by a spotter in Taunton. Thunderstorm winds downed large branches and a tree in Hingham. The storms weakened as they moved farther north.
