What happened

The episode as NWS PAH wrote it up.

A wide band of thunderstorms, oriented from west to east, moved east across the same areas for a few hours during the nighttime hours. Rainfall amounts were 2 to 3.5 inches in many places, with isolated amounts near 7 inches at Carbondale. Another band of thunderstorms with heavy rain during the early morning hours prolonged flooding into part of the morning. In Williamson County, some side roads were closed due to high water west of Herrin and along the southwest corner of the county. Water was reportedly approaching some homes in Williamson County. In Franklin County, several roads were closed in Christopher, and secondary roads were under water near Zeigler. In Jackson County, a car was reportedly floating in a creek near U.S. Highway 51 North. In Edwards County, high water was over Browns-Bone Gap Road. Numerous streets were flooded in Perry County, and a couple of houses had water in them.
