Five Delta Air Lines employees, working on a McDonnel Douglas MD-88 aircraft parked at gate B34 at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport, were injured when lightning struck the tail of the aircraft. All five employees were treated and released with only minor injuries.

The public and the Forsyth County Newspaper reported that thunderstorm winds caused considerable damage in Coal Mountain. The tin roof of the Coal Mountain Drywall Supply company was blown off and another adjacent building under construction at the same company was blown down. The building debris also caused damage to a nearby parked 1994 Acura Legend. In addition, a Japanese ornamental tree was blown away on the property next door. Other trees were reported down on Hendrix and Gravitt roads and a tree was blown down on a telephone line in Cumming near the North Forsyth High School.
