An amateur radio operator reported that some small trees were blown down at the south end of Robins Air Force Base, one of which caused damage to a car.
The Macon Telegraph reported that an employee at Robins Air Force Base was injured when struck by lightning while using the telephone in his house. He suffered a 30 minute total loss of hearing in his left ear along with slight burns on his neck and earlobe.
The public reported quarter size hail.
Local Swainsboro radio station WXRS along with the Swainsboro newspaper, The Forest Blade, reported extensive wind damage throughout the Swainsboro area. Lots of large trees and power lines were reported to be down. Much of the damage was reported in the Lake Luck area just east of the city, where several large trees were uprooted. Damage was done to the Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary when a large tree fell on the structure. Trees were also uprooted at the Coleman House and at the local golf course. In addition, the new Emanuel County Airport welcome sign was blown away and sheared in two by the strong winds and deer stands were scattered and damaged at the Yard Master.
A local Swainsboro radio station reported golf ball size hail. The local newspaper reported that dime size hail was widespread in the Swainsboro area.
A variety of sources, including the Dublin Courier Herald, local broadcast media, amateur radio operators, and the public reported that an apparent thunderstorm microburst caused extensive wind damage to areas from Dudley to Dublin, especially within the city of Dublin. The brunt of the damage occurred in the area between U.S. Highway 441 and U.S. Highway 80. Numerous trees and power lines were reported down throughout the area. Extensive damage occurred to the Dublin High School athletic facility. Three of four sides of fencing were damaged on the tennis court, one of the baseball dugouts was destroyed, the roof of the dugout of the softball field was lifted off, and the batting cage was blown away and crumpled up in the nearby woods. In addition, the vinyl roof was ripped off the school's greenhouse and several small pine trees on the property were blown down as well. Elsewhere, the roof was ripped off Georgia Power Company's operating headquarters on Pecan Drive. Within the city, winds blew the aluminum sheeting off the roof of Rando's Fitness in the Westgate Shopping Center and several aluminum business signs were shattered or mangled.
The Laurens county 911, as well as the public and the Dublin Courier Herald, reported dime to golf ball size hail.
The Toombs county 911 center reported that several large trees were blown down.
The Crisp county 911 center reported dime size hail across the southeast part of the county.
The Crisp county 911 center, and the Cordele Dispatch, reported that extensive thunderstorm wind damage occurred throughout the county. The wind caused damage to commercial and residential structures alike. Much of the damage was reported to homes along U.S. Highway 41 from the Dooly county border south to Cordele. The storm then continued to cause damage as it traveled roughly along Georgia Highway 90 into the southeast part of the county. Numerous trees were damaged or destroyed along the path of the storm. In addition, a trailer was twisted off its foundation near the Dooly county line and the roof was lifted off the Cordele Auto Recycling Center facility.
