Numerous roads were reported to be flooded across Frio County as the rain bands from Hurricane Brett produced general 2-4 inch rainfall over the northern part of the county and up to 5 inches of rain across the southern part of the county.
Rain bands from Hurricane Brett produced widespread showers and thunderstorms across South Central Texas from late on the evening of August 23rd into the early morning hours of August 24th. Amateur Radio operators reported flooding over low water crossings and poorly drained sections of northwestern Bexar County as a result of general 2 inch totals with isolated amounts to 4 inches. Sections of SH281 north of the city of San Antonio were also reported to be under water briefly.
Hurricane Brett weakened to a tropical depression as it approached Dimmit and Maverick Counties early in the morning of August 24th. Rain bands continued to develop from the gulf coast into the two counties, with rainfall totals of 8 to 10 inches of rain in southwestern Dimmit County, diminishing to 4 inch accumulations from northern Dimmit County northeastward into Zavala, Frio and Atascosa Counties. Rainfall totals in southern Maverick county ranged from nearly 14 inches just south of El Indio in extreme southern Maverick County to 6 inches at Eagle Pass in the west central portion of the county to only 2 inch totals in the northern part of the county. The sheriff's department in Dimmit County and the emergency manager in Maverick County reported flash flooding through the early morning hours, including the city of Eagle Pass.
