Thunderstorms moved through Carroll County during the late evening hours. Lightning struck a tree outside of a house in Dedham. The bolt struck a tree, travelled under the driveway and punched three holes in the concrete, the largest about a foot in diameter. When it reached the garage it blew switches for the overhead door opener off the wall and shredded wires leading to the opener. The bolt also chipped the garage foundation. Inside the house the jolt blew the stereo and knocked out telephone service and blew out all the electrical circuit breakers in the house.
