Flash flooding of urban areas and at least one stream resulted when 2 to 5 1/2 inches of rain fell from the south side of Sioux City to Salix. The greatest rainfall total reported was 5.5 inches at Salix. Roads and low areas were flooded, basement flooding occurred, and Little Whiskey Creek 2 miles west of Bronson experienced flash flooding. In Sioux City the flooding caused a retaining wall to collapse. Damage estimates were not available, partly because the flooding in Sioux City affected the Morningside area, which suffered great damage in a flash flood in July, and much of this damage had not yet been repaired.
