A severe thunderstorm produced damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rain across southern Sussex County. Gumboro was hardest hit with numerous large tree limbs knocked down. Scattered power outages were reported in the region. The thunderstorm also dropped heavy rain across the area with between 1.5 and 3.0 inches of rain between Laurel and Millsboro. This produced some poor drainage flooding, but no serious damage.
