Lightning strikes across Chilton County damaged numerous transformers and left many customers without power. Lightning struck a power substation in Clanton that caused numerous customers to be without power throughout the afternoon. A power distribution outlet was struck in Maplesville and caused the entire city to be without power for more than 8 hours.
