This small (F1) tornado had just a 1/4-mile path, but was embedded within a larger area of downburst winds that began at the top of Laurel Mountain in Forbes State Forest and extended east-southeast for nearly 23 miles. Width of the damage was about 70 yards, with downburst damage nearly a mile wide. No one witnessed the tornado, but several told of hearing a roar, with wind and rain beginning simultaneously. About 100 trees were taken down by the storm.
