A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced scattered pockets of wind damage (downed wires and trees) in Chester County and hit the northeast quarter the hardest. There were dozens of calls of trees on roadways. Numerous roads were blocked in East Bradford and East Vincent Townships. One tree fell on and damaged a home in Downingtown. PECO energy reported about 185,000 homes and businesses in their service area lost power, nearly half in Chester County (80,000). Several elderly residents were rescued from a trapped elevator in Coatesville when the power went out . Power was restored to everyone midday on Thursday July 2nd.
