Summary of events for August 19 1998:A trough of low pressure oriented from northwest to southeast and a cold pool of air aloft brought quite a few pulse severe thunderstorms to eastern Oklahoma on the afternoon and early evening of August 19. The trough started out in northwest Arkansas and then shifted southwest during the afternoon, causing the severe weather emphasis to shift southwest during the afternoon. The primary threats from these pulse storms were damaging thunderstorm winds and hail as large as nickels. Most areas of storm damage were confined to small areas due to the pulse nature of the storms.

A 50-foot cattle trailer was turned completely over. Large elm trees were twisted and one was uprooted. There was structural damage to the aluminum frame and door locks on a building at the A-Bar Ranch east of the Claremore Municipal Airport. Winds were estimated at 70 miles an hour by the general public.
