Total August rains amounted to less than an inch for several locations. The Belleville Lock and Dam near Reedsville had only 0.76 inches. Marietta recorded 0.86 inches. Normal August rain is 3.5 to 4 inches. This same region started the summer excessively wet, with 10 to 16 inches of rain during the month of June.
