The episode as NWS DMX wrote it up.
The airmass over Iowa was very unstable with dew point temperatures in the low 70s F. and several weak surface boundaries in the area. A line of thunderstorms formed along one of the boundaries. Most of the storms were not severe, however several did exhibit rotation on the WSR-88D. One of the cells dropped a tornado briefly in Jasper County northwest of Kellogg. The tornado was actually more of a landspout rather than a tornado. It touched down in a field, damaging part of the crop along its brief path.
