Flash Flooding in Illinois, August 3, 1998
A series of thunderstorms moved across northern portions of Champaign and Vermilion counties over a three hour period with between 4 to 6 inches of rain falling. The Thomasboro, Collison, Hope, and Potomac areas were the most affected.

A series of thunderstorms moved across northern portions of Champaign and Vermilion counties over a three hour period with between 4 to 6 inches of rain falling. The Thomasboro, Collison, Hope, and Potomac areas were the most affected. Numerous roads were flooded and a few homes in the Collison area sustained minor damage. Also, several motorists had to be rescued after driving into flooded roadways. No injuries were reported.
