Thunderstorms produced a total of 3 to 5 inches of rain during the evening. Major road flooding occurred. As a result of high water flowing across roadways, U.S. 51 was closed from Elkville to Dowell, Illinois 127 was closed near Vergennes, and Route 4 was closed near Ava. Portions of county roads in those areas were nearly impassable due to standing water. Dozens of motorists were stranded, but no injuries were reported.
