The Big Muddy River remained above flood stage all month at Murphysboro. It crested there at 27.8 feet on the 20th. Flood stage is 16 feet. At Plumfield, the river crested at 25.5 feet on the 18th. Flood stage at Plumfield is 20 feet. Some houses near the river in the Murphysboro area were affected by minor flooding. Most of the flooding damaged agricultural bottomlands and roads near the river.
