Tropical wave was passing south of Florida. Strong outflow boundary moved north from Cuba. Areas along the immediate coastline and over the coastal waters were affected by the strongest winds.

Wind gusted to 64 knots at Fowey Rocks C-MAN at 0131 AM EST. Wind gusted to 53 knots at Miami Beach (MIBF). Miami Pilot reporded wind gusts to 62 knots. Virginia Key recorded a wind gust of 47 knots. Trees were downed along Coral Way and SW 27th Ave. A church steeple was damaged by lightning and trees were uprooted in Coconut Grove. Downed powerlines in Miami Beach caused a fire that destroyed two cars. Wind gust recorded at HRD(Huricane Reasearch Division) of 50 knots. 55,000 customers lost commercial power.
