Severe thunderstorms developed during the late afternoon and continued into the evening of the 29th. Golfball- sized hail was reported in the city of Brownfield by SKYWARN spotters. High wind with nickel-sized hail in Briscoe County produced crop damage east of Quitaque and almost blew a truck off the road. Large tree limbs and powerlines were also reported down in the city of Quitaque. Golfball-sized hail west of Plainview destroyed 3000 acres of cotton.
