Flash Flood, Smith

When: July 7, 8:30 AM CST to 12:30 PM CST
Where: Smith County, 3 mi W of Winona
Property damage: $9,000
Coordinates: 32.375, -95.269 (the zone’s center; the record gives no point)

Very heavy rains (nearly 8 inches in four hours) caused flooding across northern portions of the county. The heaviest flooding occurred near Winona in the Red Springs community. Several homes were flooded and numerous roads leading into and out of the community were impassable including CR 32, 2710, and 317. FM 16 and FM 2015 were also underwater and closed.

Flash Flood, Wood

Where: Wood County, Hawkins
Coordinates: 32.786, -95.382 (the zone’s center; the record gives no point)

Heavy rains resulted in flooding in and around Hawkins. Many roads were flooded and impassable. Cumby road was washed out and many cars were stalled in the high water in town.
