A severe weather spotter reported 2 inch diameter hail in a severe thunderstorm along Highway 169 about 3 miles east of Hillsdale.
A slow moving super cell type severe thunderstorm developed over Miami County during the evening and produced numerous reports of large hail. Golfball-size hail was reported in and around Paola. Softball-size hail, approximately 4.5 inches in diameter, was reported by a spotter 3 miles southeast of Hillsdale.
Dime-size hail was reported in a severe thunderstorm near Aubry.
Strong winds from the same severe thunderstorm that dropped the large hail near Paola produced damaging winds in the Louisburg area. Winds gusted to 70 MPH in downtown Louisburg and were also reported by a spotter at the intersection of Highways 169 and 58.
