Skagway received over 2 inches of rain in 24 hours September 22-23, which is over one-half of the normal September precipitation, and a flood watch was issued for the Skagway River. The river rose 5 feet, within inches of bankfull, during the afternoon of the 23rd.

Skagway received over 2 inches of rain in 24 hours September 22-23, which is over one-half of the normal September precipitation, and a flood watch was issued for the Skagway River. The river rose 5 feet, within inches of bankfull, during the afternoon of the 23rd. The city of Skagway piled rock along the east bank of the river to mitigate erosion and prevent the river from flowing around the dike into town.
