A multicell cluster of thunderstorms developed over the city of Midland and moved to the northeast. The cluster moved rapidly to the northeast at 40 mph, developing a reflectivity gradient on the leading edge. Stanton received hail, but as the storms continued northeast a section collapsed sending 60 mph outflow into Big Spring. From this outflow additional clusters developed in northeastern Howard County that dropped hail from there and to the northeast in Scurry County.
