Lightning Strike in Texas, August 12, 1996
A man and his mother were talking under a covered porch with a third person in Manor when lightning struck a tree some 20 feet away. The lightning bolt apparently was deflected from the tree to the man, striking him in the chest and exiting his groin, then striking his mother in the foot.

A man and his mother were talking under a covered porch with a third person in Manor when lightning struck a tree some 20 feet away. The lightning bolt apparently was deflected from the tree to the man, striking him in the chest and exiting his groin, then striking his mother in the foot. The man suffered third degree burns, but his mother was treated at the scene. The third person was not injured.
