Severe thunderstorm winds caused major damage in Granite. Portions of the school gymnasium's new roof were torn off and about half of the high school roof on the northeast end of the building was blown off. Damage to school properties in Granite was estimated at $30,000. Elsewhere in Granite a convenience store roof was peeled back, a grain bin was tilted against a grain elevator, 3 power poles were downed, numerous trees were uprooted, and 59 homes in town suffered roof damage. Cotton trailers and a stock trailer were blown into yards and sheds were destroyed.
