The downburst which ripped Bethesda moments earlier continued through the southeastern quarter of the county. The damage lessened as the storm moved through Kensington and near the Silver Spring business district. County officials estimated a total of $250 thousand damage to trees and power lines alone during the event from Potomac to Silver Spring.
