A brief deluge in an isolated thunderstorm dropped three and one-half to five inches of rain in the Black Creek (Outagamie County) area, causing State Highway 54 to flood. A woman and her children had to be rescued from their vehicle after it stalled in the rapidly rising waters. Scattered severe thunderstorms across southern Wisconsin generated a variety of adverse weather elements. Powerful thunderstorm winds blew down large trees and limbs around Waterloo (Jefferson County); in Lake Mills (Jefferson County); and knocked down 20 large trees, a silo, and a barn just south of Milford (Jefferson County). Damage to the silo and barn was about $80 thousand. One large toppled tree temporary closed west-bound traffic on Interstate 94 south of Milford. A lightning bolt struck a home northwest of Fox Lake (Dodge County) and damaged its roof. Lightning started a fire which did moderate damage to a homes roof and second floor northeast of Milton (Rock County). Lightning ignited a brief fire in a lumber yard in Oconomowoc (Waukesha County), and slightly damaged the 911 service and computers at the Germantown Police Department. A bolt of lightning struck a home in the town of Angelo (Monroe County) causing the stove to catch fire, and damaging the TV set. On the adjoining property, a dog was killed by the lightning strike, but no people were hurt in the incident.
