Lightning killed a deck hand and injured another on a coal barge in the Kanawha River. Thunderstorm wind blew down trees and power lines, but damage was minimal. The rains amounted to 2.4 inches at Winfield in 45 minutes. Hurricane measured 2.8 inches in the deluge. Creeks flooded roads in western Kanawha and Putnam Counties. No evacuations were reported.
