There were many reports of dime- to golf ball-size hail, but hail as large as softballs fell near Wellman and north of Lubbock (where several cars were damaged). Spotters reporteda brief tornado in southeast Hockley County. Also, some flooding occurred in northwest Lubbock County and in southwest Hale County (where FM 37 was flooded between Interstate 27 and Cotton Center).

Severe thunderstorms produced large hail, severe straight-line winds, and flash flooding from morning through mid-evening on the 4th. Hail as large as tennis balls was reported in Knox City in Knox County and wind speeds were estimated at 100 mph five miles north of Vernon in Wilbarger County. Flash flooding was reported in Foard County 19 miles west of Crowell where Highway 70 was flooded and in Crowell where numerous streets were flooded. In Wilbarger County several cars stalled in high water in Vernon and Highway 283 north of Vernon was flooded. Later in the day, water rose above curbs in Vernon and some intersections were consequently closed. In Hardeman County street flooding was reported in Quanah.
