Severe thunderstorms produced damaging winds across Wichita and northern Clay Counties during the evening of the 20th. At Sheppard Air Force Base (SPS) in Wichita County, wind gusts reached as high as 106 mph, and a single-engine aircraft that had been tied down was flipped over. Almost one hour later, wind speeds in Wichita Falls were measured at 61 to 78 mph at a local TV station. Damage in Wichita Falls from the evening's storms included eight inch branches down, outbuildings damaged, shingles blown off houses, a tree felled onto a car, and heavy metal awnings blown over. In Clay County in Charlie, winds up to 65 mph knocked out power to Charlie and Dean.
