Severe thunderstorms developed in eastern Oklahoma during the late afternoon of June 1st. Strong thunderstorm winds downed power lines and large tree limbs one mile north of Hartshorne, and trees were blown down by strong winds seven miles south of Wilburton. Quarter-size hail fell at Bearden, and dime-size hail fell near Bearden, one mile north of Hartshorne, six miles southwest of Wilburton, and seven miles south of Wilburton.

Thunderstorms developed during the afternoon in central Oklahoma, then spread into southern Oklahoma and continued through the evening. Numerous reports of golf ball-size hail were received, including in Tecumseh in Pottawatomie County three miles east of Payne in McClain County, in Moore, in Cleveland County, and in Messer, in Choctaw County. In Carter County, in Ardmore, two separate storms produced golf ball-size hail at 1830 CST and 2050 CST. In addition, severe thunderstorm winds destroyed a gas station canopy in Allen, in Pontotoc County.
