A microburst, with winds estimated to be between 80 and 100 mph, struck the west side of Columbus, destroying roofs of two industrial buildings. The debris from the roofs stretched 600 yards. A tractor-semitrailer was also blown over, injuring one male.

Trees were snapped and about a dozen pontoon boats in dry dock were scattered about. A tornado was suspected at first, but it was determined that downburst with winds to about 80 mph was what actually occurred.
