An intense early morning thunderstorm was accompanied by gusty winds, torrential rain, and half-inch diameter hail. Trees and branches were reported blown down and there were widespread power outages caused by the winds and numerous
Thunderstorm winds gusting to 45 to 50 mph knocked down trees in Rochdale in Worcester County. Marble-size hail also was reported. In Berkshire County, several trees were reported blown down at Onota Lake during an early evening thunderstorm.
