Severe thunderstorms affected the South Plains and the Permian Basin. Spotters and county sheriff's offices reported dime-size to golf ball-size hail in many locations. Most of the damage was ,to crops, but about a dozen cars were dented in eastern Lubbock County at Ransom Canyon. The storm that caused dime-size hail and cotton crop damage in Pep and Pettit (Hockley County) moved across Levelland, producing one-inch diameter hail and downing some power poles. In Lamb County, a gustnado (weaker tornado-like wind circulation along an outflow boundary) occurred north of Olton. The Olton Fire Department reported this storm caused no damage. Some flash flooding also occurred in Midland and Ector Counties.
