,2 to 4 inches of rain fell across the eastern half of Travis County between 1600CST and 1700CST, causing flash flooding along Wilbarger Creek. Around 2000CST, a 21-year old man drove his delivery van down Bitting School Road into the deep water some 7 miles east of Manor near the Bastop County line. The van became stalled and the man was swept away when he left the van and attempted to move to higher ground. Water was reported to be 9 to 12 feet deep in the creek at the time. Warnings had been placed on both sides of the road by 1800CST according to authorities. A second motorist attempted to drive across the concrete crossing over the creek and his truck became stalled as well. He was able to escape without injury, but reported seeing the previous van being swept downstream.
