Damaging thunderstorm winds flipped over an unoccupied mobile home and smashed it into another at the Blue Springs Terrace Trailer Court along State Route 254. Damage was estimated at $8,000.

A tornado touched down in Hughesville and uprooted numerous trees. Also a house chimney and the roof of the porch were blown away. The tornado threw a carport over a house and damaged part of the roof of the Angus Inn.

Trees and power lines were blown down in Hallam, including a 250 year old red maple tree. Branches punched holes in a roof of one house. State Route 462 was closed for four hours to clear trees. Nearly 2,000 homes lost power.

Thunderstorm winds knocked down trees on at least seven blocks as well as power lines in Lancaster. They also toppled a cinder block wall under construction in Bloomfield Square near Lancaster Airport. An 89 year old man had to be rescued from a flooded underpass. Penny size hail fell just north and west of Lancaster. In Eden, a lightning strike fried all telephone and radio communications for the local fire company. Six thousand persons lost power in Lancaster County.
