A severe thunderstorm uprooted trees throughout Honesdale and resulted in power outages to 1,500 customers. The worst damage occurred on Court Street when an uprooted tree destroyed a sidewalk, took down a utility pole and damaged the porch and roof of a house across the street. Wind gusts were estimated at 75 mph.

About 16,000 Metropolitan Edison and 2,180 Pennsylvania Power and Light customers lost power around the Allentown Metropolitan Area. Heavy rain also caused the collapse of a roof of a building in Nazareth leaving 21 senior citizens temporarily homeless.

At Lincoln Place, people were trapped in their cars by the rapidly rising water. One family had to be pulled from their car window. On Route 885, a 26 foot section of pavement was buckled.
