An isolated severe thunderstorm developed just ahead of an advancing cold front. Numerous reports of between 1/4 and 1/2 inch hail were received as this storm passed across southeastern New York. The dime-size hail in Montgomery was reported by a National Weather Service technician working outside at the time.
