A cold front sweeping across the region generated a line of heavy showers and thunderstorms. Some trees and power lines were downed as strong winds aloft were brought to the surface in the thunderstorms downdraft. Winds gusted between 50 and 60 knots for only a couple of minutes as the outflow generated by the parent storm passed through. Some residents reported that the sky never blackened and there was no thunder or lightning when the actual winds struck.
