Strong thunderstorms moved into extreme west Louisiana during the late afternoon. A few of the thunderstorms reached severe levels and produced hail ranging from three-quarters inch to an inch and a quarter in diameter. A funnel cloud was observed near Vivian in northwest Louisiana, and winds gusted to 70 mph at Lake Charles.
