A small tornado touched down near 8th and Lexington in DeSoto in Johnson County and moved northeast lifting one mile north of Lenape in Leavenworth County. The tornado was witnessed by a citizen in De Soto who described the circulation as about 50 feet in diameter. Property damage was estimated at between $100,000 and $125,000. Hail the size of baseballs and severe straight-line winds accompanied the parent thunderstorm.
