A series of thunderstorms developed around Hutchinson and Wichita, and intermittently dropped hail between 0.75 inch and 2.00 inches as they drifted east and weakened. Widespread golfball-size hail resulted in damage estimated by the Insurance Information Institute at near $35 million primarily in Wichita.
